What is Summer Launch?
Summer Launch 2009 will provide the opportunity for approximately 40 students who have been admitted for the fall to get a head start on college during the summer. Summer Launch provides a challenging, fun, and exciting introduction into UNCG's diverse student-centered community.
At Summer Launch, you will:
- Live on-campus in a residence hall.
- Take two academic classes for credit during the second session of summer school.
- Interact and create valuable relationships with faculty and staff.
- Participate in workshops aimed at student success at the collegiate level.
- Learn about campus resources.
- Meet and develop relationships with other students in the Class of 2013.
- Get to know the Greater Greensboro area through various community events.
Why Should I Attend Summer Launch?
Summer Launch, a challenging, academic, residential program, will give incoming freshmen opportunities to develop and practice successful academic, social, and personal skills that will facilitate a smooth transition from high school to the UNCG community.
Summer Launch will:
- Offer students an opportunity to experience college life before arriving at UNCG in the fall.
- Assist students in developing strategies to meet the challenge of living and studying in a large, culturally diverse, academic environment.
- Provide academic support as students transition to college-level classes.
- Develop team building and leadership skills through hands-on activities.
- Provide opportunities in and out of the classroom to develop new relationships with fellow students, faculty, and staff.
- Give students a chance to experience the Greensboro area through sporting, cultural, and social events.
- Offer opportunities for adventure and fun!
* Summer Launch activities continue throughout the year as you are being mentored by Summer Launch faculty and staff and provided support as you transition through your first year at UNCG.
